What makes Alchemix different from other lending protocols

Most decentralised lending markets ask you to post collateral, borrow against it, and then watch an interest counter climb until you repay. Alchemix inverts that relationship. When you deposit an asset such as DAI, USDC or ETH into an Alchemix vault, the deposit is routed into a yield strategy, and the yield that strategy produces is used to pay down your debt automatically. You never receive a margin call for accrued interest, because Alchemix charges no interest at all — the only thing standing between you and a zero balance is time.

That single design decision changes how borrowing feels. A loan stops being a recurring obligation and becomes a timing tool: you gain liquidity today, and your future yield settles the balance on your behalf. Because the debt is denominated in a synthetic token that mirrors your collateral, the loan cannot be liquidated by ordinary price movement of that collateral against itself, which removes the most stressful part of leveraged DeFi positions.

The core Alchemix building blocks you will meet

Alchemix is made of a small number of components that interlock. Vaults (often called alchemists) accept collateral and mint synthetic debt tokens. alAssets — alUSD and alETH — are those synthetic tokens, freely tradeable on the open market. The Transmuter is the mechanism that converts repaid collateral back into alAssets at par, keeping the peg honest. Yield adaptors connect the vault to external strategies so that idle collateral is always productive.
